Watching the Web from the newsroom

GAINESVILLE, Fla.-- It's been a while since I've posted ANYTHING on this Weblog. Guess a month has passed. Well, let's see spring break -- travel back home to Virginia, back to Tuscaloosa and a big research paper deadline -- which is this weekend-- those activities will kind of eat up the time for blogging.

Even as I finish up the research paper(s), it's great to be back in the Sunshine State of Florida. I've posted a more extensive DAY 1 update on the Society of Professional Journalists Conference on my COMJ Exchange Blog. But, I thought I'd show off this giant HD monitor that I saw in the newsroom of The Gainesville Sun.

Perhaps it is a sign of the times as reporters and editors at the 50,000 circ paper monitor their paper's Web site and several others like the Arizona Republic's site -- which integrates the converged media efforts of Gannett's highly successful daily in Arizona and its Phoenix TV station, KPNX- 12 News.

More fun stuff from Gainesville as we visit the University of Florida campus tomorrow morning.
